Privacy

Gift ID handles what you tell it about your spiritual life carefully. This page explains what we collect, why we are allowed to hold it, and how you stay in control.

At the moment accounts are switched off. Nothing you answer is stored on our servers: your result lives only on your device, and the PDF is built from your answers and not kept. The sections about accounts below describe what would apply if accounts are switched on again.

What we collect

Taking the self-check needs no account and collects nothing beyond your answers, which stay on your own device unless you choose to download a PDF or save a result to an account. If you sign in, we store your email address for signing in, the item-by-item answers and computed result for any run you choose to save, and any consent choices you make. We never ask for your date of birth, gender, location, or any other demographic detail.

Who is responsible for your data

Gift ID is run by Liju Rajeev, based in Rochester, Kent, United Kingdom, who is the data controller for everything described on this page. Write to contact@gift-id.online for anything to do with your data.

Why we are allowed to hold this

Answers about your spiritual life are a special category of personal data under UK GDPR, since they concern religious belief. We only ever store them against your account with your explicit, specific consent, given separately for saving to an account, for anonymised research, and for sharing with a group leader. You can withdraw any of these at any time in your account settings, and withdrawal takes effect immediately.

Who processes this data

Two companies help us run Gift ID. Supabase hosts our database and handles sign-in, and stores everything listed above in a data centre in London. Netlify hosts the website and runs the small pieces of server code that prepare your PDF and, if you use an account, save or delete your results. Those pieces currently run in Netlify's United States region, so the answers you send for a PDF or a save pass through servers there briefly and are not kept; this transfer is covered by Netlify's data processing agreement and standard contractual clauses. We do not use advertising networks, trackers, or sell data to anyone.

How long we keep it

A result you never save stays on your device only. We never see it unless you download a PDF (the answers pass through our server to build the document and are not kept) or save it to an account. A saved result stays until you remove it or delete your account, at which point it is deleted straight away, not just hidden. Your sign-in record (your email address and the dates you signed in) is kept while your account exists and deleted with it. If you gave anonymised research consent for a result, a copy of its answers with no name, email or other link back to you may be kept indefinitely to check how well the questions work. It cannot be found or deleted individually once your saved answers are gone, because nothing then connects it to you.

Your rights

You can see your saved results at any time in your account. You can change or withdraw any consent, remove one saved result, or delete your whole account and everything linked to it, all from your account settings, with no need to write to us first. You also have the right to ask for a copy of the data we hold about you, to have it corrected, and to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) if you are unhappy with how we handle it. To ask us anything about your data, write to contact@gift-id.online.
